Berry Delicious Cheesecake Fluff Recipe (1)

Here's a super-easy dessert that is perfect to take to picnics or potlucks this summer. My family was positively RAVING about this one!

I was looking for a fun way to dress up some strawberries and blueberries I had picked up at the grocery store. We had been eating a lot of strawberries (they are so good right now!), so to change things up a bit I wanted to make a dessert with them.

Fruit salad is always an option, but I was craving something a little different, so I set off to poke around the interwebs in search of inspiration.

In my search, I became inspired by the many fluff recipes out there. I love how smooth and creamy and versatile they are.

In this recipe, the marshmallows lend a light, spongy texture and the cheesecake mix adds so much rich, cheesy flavor. You definitely need to try this!

FAQs

Does it matter what brand of no-bake cheesecake mix I use?

I like to use the Jello brand, which seems to produce the best cheesecake flavor. However, I have used generic brands as well and honestly I have never had any complaints!

Does it matter what brand of whipped topping I use?

The brand of whipped topping doesn't seem to make a difference. I usually just buy whatever is the least expensive. Also, I usually use the 'lite' version, but the regular version works just as well.

Does it matter what brand or kind of yogurt I use?

I like to get the creamiest vanilla yogurt I can find. So I use a Greek non-fat yogurt. I have used generic brand and name brands and I haven't noticed a big difference either way.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Definitely! Store it covered in the refrigerator overnight. You may notice that the areas around the sliced strawberries pick up some of the red color, but it all still tastes delicious!

Do I need to chill this before serving it after I make it?

No, you can serve it right away. But if you need to hold off on serving it for a few hours, I would definitely store it covered in the refrigerator.

Expert Tips

  1. Wash your fruit before adding it and make sure you pat it dry a bit.
  2. Allow plenty of time for the frozen whipped topping to thaw before making the recipe.
  3. Reserve the graham cracker crumbs and serve them on the side for your guests to sprinkle on as they like
  4. Make sure your marshmallows are fresh. Old, stale marshmallows are icky!

Variations

Just about anything you would put on, or mix into, a cheesecake can be used here! So many possibilities!

  • Experiment with different fruits - try raspberries, cherries, mango, pineapple, or blackberries.
  • Go with a chocolate version - Oreo cookie pieces, chocolate chips, chopped brownie bites...YUM!
  • Make the fluff part (cheesecake mix, marshmallows, yogurt, whipped topping), and then when serving, top it with your favorite pre-made pie filling.
  • Use pieces of candy bars - Kit Kat, Twix, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Milky Way. YUM again!

Notes

  • After your wash your fruit, make sure you dry it a bit before adding it to the recipe.
  • Don't forget you will need to allow time for your whipped topping to thaw!
  • For best results, use fresh marshmallows (don't try to get by with last summer's marshmallows like I did! 🙂 )

FAQs

What not to do when making cheesecake? ›

Cold ingredients are a big no-no when it comes to cheesecake. If your ingredients are cold you will have to mix them longer which will whip too much air into your batter. If the cake has too much air, it will rise too much in the oven and then the middle will sink when cooling. Nobody wants a sad, sunken cheesecake.

Why has my no-bake cheesecake not set? ›

If your ingredients are too warm, you'll end up with a soupy mixture that will never set, no matter how long you leave it in the fridge. The second reason your cheesecake won't set can come down to the brand of cream cheese you use.

What is strawberry fluff made of? ›

What is strawberry fluff? Strawberry fluff is a simple dessert made by combining strawberry jello, whipped topping, crushed pineapple, sweetened condensed milk, and fresh strawberries. It is mixed and then served chilled.

How long does it take for a cheesecake to set? ›

Rushing the chill. The filling needs proper chilling, a minimum of four hours but preferably overnight, to set into sliceable sections. Freezing the cheesecake results in a too-hard-to-enjoy crust and filling. Try this: The cheesecake should be shiny and firm to the touch when set.

What does adding an extra egg to cheesecake do? ›

Eggs: Three whole eggs hold the cheesecake together. I also add an extra yolk, which enhances the cake's velvety texture. (Whites tend to lighten the cake, which is actually fine — if you don't feel like separating that fourth egg and don't mind some extra airiness in the texture, just add in the whole egg.)

Is 350 too hot for cheesecake? ›

To prevent serious cracking, cheesecakes should always be baked in a moderate (325 to 350 degrees) oven. Thick cheesecakes (greater than 1½ to 2 inches deep) bake more uniformly at the lower end of this temperature spectrum.

Why is my strawberry fluff runny? ›

The strawberries very likely will end up making the fluff runny the longer it sits. If you keep the Strawberry Fluff in a bowl with a tight-fitting lid, it should keep for a day or two in the fridge.

What is pink fluff made of? ›

The most common recipes typically include at least a can of crushed pineapples, a container of whipped topping (such as Cool Whip), and a packet of Jello (usually strawberry)—often with canned cherries or cranberries mixed in.

What is marshmallow fluff made of? ›

Fluff's ingredients include corn syrup, sugar syrup, vanilla flavor, and egg whites. Fluff continues to be a regional tradition in the Northeastern United States.

What happens if you overmix cheesecake batter? ›

When making your filling, overmixing can lead to incorporating too much air into the batter. Once baked, the air bubbles will burst, and the cheesecake will fall and crack. THE FIX: The number one reason why you'd overbeat your batter is because you're having dificulty incorporating cold ingredients.

Can I put my cheesecake in the fridge if it's still warm? ›

If you place a hot or warm cheesecake in the fridge, it may not set properly and the heat can also have a negative impact on other items in your fridge. The USDA says to avoid the “danger zone” you must place a cooled cheesecake in the fridge within two hours.

What causes a cheesecake to crack after baking? ›

When the batter is overmixed, too much air is added and will cause your cake to rise in the oven and then collapse and crack when being removed. Don't overbake your cake. It may crack if it's too dry. Many people overbake their recipes to “play it safe”.

How can I prevent my cheesecake from cracking? ›

Baking in a water bath is simply adding a pan of hot water to the oven while baking foods like cheesecakes that are prone to cracking from the heat of the oven. A water bath adds moisture to the oven which helps the cheesecake bake evenly without the outside getting overcooked.

Does cheesecake need to rest overnight? ›

Many recipes say to let the cheesecake sit in the turned-off oven with the door cracked for about an hour, then let it cool completely on the counter. It also needs to spend four hours, or ideally overnight, in the fridge before slicing and eating to ensure the perfect velvety smooth texture. Speaking of slicing…
