How long does IU Bloomington take to respond? ›

If you applied by the November 1 early action (non-binding) deadline, you can expect a response by January 15. If you applied by the February 1 regular decision deadline, you will receive a response by March 15.

Degree Requirements

Students must successfully complete a minimum of 120 credit hours. The campus at which a student completes the plurality of course work will award the degree, provided that campus is authorized to grant the degree/major/concentration and that the student has been admitted to that campus.

Unless otherwise explicitly stated, a grade of D– or higher is sufficient for successful completion of a course in the General Education Common Ground curriculum. In order to apply toward the General Education Common Ground requirements, a course must be GenEd-approved for the semester in which the course is taken.

First-year applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

What is the minimum GPA to graduate IU? ›

In Indianapolis a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.000 is required for the B.S. degrees. In addition, a SPEA major GPA of 2.300 must be maintained in order to graduate.

Passing Grade: A, B, C, or D (including pluses and minuses). Internal Grade: A grade record maintained by the registrar or a unit for internal purposes that does not appear on a student's transcript. Year: A calendar year.

At most schools, a D is the lowest passing grade. That means students who earn a D or higher receive credit for the course. However, some schools set special policies around D grades. For example, at Lehigh, a D counts as a passing grade but does not meet prerequisite requirements.

Most colleges and universities generally consider a "D" (or a 60% to 69% score) as a passing grade. It's important to note that this minimum or lowest passing grade standard can significantly vary depending on the institution or major. For instance, some universities may require a "C" or better to pass.

If you've already applied

You'll hear directly from IU Indianapolis about whether or not you've been accepted. The timeline for admission decisions is typically 2–3 weeks after you submit all your application materials.

It can take 6-8 weeks to render an admissions decision and possibly longer for students applying to any of our impacted majors. Once an admission decision has been made, you will be notified by email and your admission status in myUH portal will be updated.

How do I know if I've been admitted? You'll hear directly from the campuses you applied to about whether or not you've been admitted. Even if you used the Apply IU application to apply to multiple campuses, you'll still hear from each campus separately about their admission decision.
