There is an interesting story about a lizard falling on the head of an incumbent Chief Minister when he was contesting elections for a third term of office in Odisha. The Chief Minister in question was Biju Patnaik. Just before the elections in 2009, on May 16, he had a lizard falling on his head when he opened the doors of his drawing room to see off another political leader who had paid him a visit. This omen, according to astrologers, suggested that he would return to power for another successful third term. His party members were overjoyed at this.

Gauli Shastra

The falling of lizards on the body parts of an individual can mean good or evil, depending on where it comes into contact. The study of the falling of lizards as omens is called Gauli Shastra. According to this Shastra, every movement of a lizard holds significance and there are not less than 65 places where the lizard will fall on the human body that can be taken as good and bad omens. It also claims that a lizard falling on the head is not a good omen but a bad one, as it indicates disputes or quarrels. If the lizard falls on the center of the head, it spells disease.

Lizard falling on the head – What it means?

If the lizard falls on the head, it foretells the gain of property, land, etc., and may also decide the fate of a king or a ruler occupying a high position. If the lizard falls on the head’s back portion, then it is bad luck for the person’s maternal uncle. A lizard falling on the head’s right side means that the omen is bad for one`s brother. A lizard falling on the head’s center portion means that the person may fall ill. A lizard falling on the head’s top part or crown foretells death. However, if the fall happens to be on the back of the crown, it indicates good fortune. But if it falls on the front part of the crown, it means ill luck for one’s maternal uncle. Lizard falling on the hair signifies difficulties.

Remedies for Lizard Falling on the Head

Hindu texts say that whenever a lizard falls on a person, one should immediately take a bath, light a lamp to God, recite the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, take Panchgavya (mixture of cow`s ghee, cow`s milk, cow`s curd, cow`s urine, cow dung), and donate til seeds, gold, and earthen lamps.

If one visits the Varadaraja Perumal temple in Kanchipuram, one can see and touch the Golden Lizard, Silver lizard, along with the Sun and Moon images on the roof, behind the sanctum sanctorum. When one touches them, it is believed to remove all the ill effects or Doshas caused due to the falling of lizards in the past and in the future.

    Hi , there were too many lizards in bathroom & I told mom to spray hit all insect killers , after hours as I open doors all lizards started jumping outside, some where still there so I started banging door till they went , at last when I thought all had gone in bowed down inside room to remove bucket & suddenly one fell on centre of my head (hair) ... What are effect of it ?? One site says if it falls on head its high position time & says if its fall on hair death like pain .. Now what it means ? I mean naturally my hair will be on my head ...

    Today , nearly 7 PM , a baby lizard Gray colour with stripes fell on my son's central (ucchhi thalai) head, and fell down , I become scared , I made him to take head bath, sprinkled him with turmeric water , lighten lamp and said narashimar slokam, and lighten lamp for kachi maha periyava , done archana to Sri anjaneyar swami ,but still I'm worried ...
