Mosaic Crochet is a very fun design technique that has NO color changes. You will simply cut your yarn at the end of the row and start over above stitch 1 with a new color. You will only need single crochet stitches as well as double crochet stitches for this cozy blanket pattern. I would consider this simple pattern an advanced beginner or intermediate skill level. But whether you tried Mosaic Crochet before or this is your first time, I’ll teach you how to do this project step by step.
I personally used red and white for this blanket for the main body of this perfect blanket and a red border all the way around using the envelope border which I’ll teach how to crochet as well. This specific pattern really gets you into the Christmas spirit whether it’s Christmas time or not. But you can add your own personal handmade touch to this festive blanket. Now let me break down how this pattern and crochet along will work.

What will you need for the Christmas Blanket Mosaic Blanket Pattern Crochet Along?

- Premier Yarns Anti-Pilling Yarn (100% Acrylic yarn, Worsted Weight Yarn, 180 yds/100g):
- 11 skeins of burgundy (I suggest adding 5-8 skeins for a reversible blanket) as the red yarn
- 14 skeins of white (I suggest adding 5-8 skeins for a reversible blanket)
- –> I designed and made the blanket in regular overlay mosaic crochet, so to make it reversible I added an estimated yarn amount needed (but no guarantees that is the correct amount as I didn’t make it reversible myself)
I recommend any of the 2 solid colors, ideally Christmas Colors. But you can also use a solid with a multi-colored variegated yarn.

Can I use a different yarn?
Yes, you can switch to a different yarn brand, even a different fiber if you prefer. We’ll be using only about 1/2 skein or less per color of yarn in total. Stick with worsted yarn.
I recommend as the best yarn: Premier Yarns Anti-Pilling Yarn but you can also use another worsted yarn.

But it’s an ideal project as a yarn stash buster. Use leftover yarn if you have any. I would recommend sticking with either of my above recommendations.
What colors should I pick?
I recommend any of the 2 solid colors, ideally Christmas Colors. But you can also use a solid with a multi-colored variegated yarn.
Either stick with the colors I picked or pick your favorite colors. Remember you will need 1 skein for each color.

If you pick 2 different colors, you may pick some of these options:
- seasonal – I picked 2 colors that worked great together
- 1 bold color and 1 neutral
- colors of the same tone (example: light vs dark green)
- colors opposite on the color wheel (aka complimentary colors), examples:
- orange and blue
- yellow and violet
Can I use a different hook size?
Yes, you can pick a different size. Just remember the pattern will be a bit smaller or larger unless you focus on the gauge provided.

Christmas Blanket Crochet Along Pattern Parts
Part 1: Rows 1-31

Using Overlay Crochet in Rows, follow the graph to crochet this pattern.

All pixels with an X are made with MDC which are DC sts in the FLO 2 rows down to the same color!

Cut yarn each row, start over at the same location (right) for each row (lefties follow the graph only – if you follow written pattern it will be mirrored).
All FIRST DC stitches (if the first st of a row is a DC) are made as an ATC (stacked single crochet) – learn it here. If the first stitch of a row is an MDC stitch, attach the yarn to the flo 2 rows down and then create an ATC (or mdc equivalent stitch) as the first stitch and then continue with the pattern.
